Apple Unveils M5 Chip Built For Next-Gen AI Performance

Apple unveiled the M5 chip, the latest breakthrough in AI performance for Apple silicon.

Architected on third-generation 3-nanometer technology, M5 boasts more than 4x the peak GPU compute capacity for AI compared to M4 and includes a Neural Accelerator in every GPU core.

It features a 10-core GPU, a faster 16-core Neural Engine, and a redesigned CPU for up to 15 percent faster multithreaded performance.

With 153GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, the M5 delivers faster processing for on-device AI, graphics rendering, and creative applications.

The new chip powers the 14 inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro, bringing groundbreaking advances on AI workloads like diffusion models, on-device large language models, and Apple Intelligence features.

Developers can now utilize Apple’s Metal 4 and Core ML APIs to fully leverage the new Neural Accelerators, enabling hardware-accelerated performance in AI and graphics workloads.

M5 also supports environmental efficiency toward Apple’s 2030 carbon-neutral goal by reducing overall energy use across devices.
