Perplexity has launched a new Comet Plus subscription that gives users access to premium content from trusted publishers and journalists.
With this plan, subscribers can access quality articles and resources directly within the Comet browser, making it easier to get reliable news and insight.
At the same time, Perplexity is paying publishers fairly, giving 80% of the revenue from these subscriptions back to them. This helps support journalism in a time when AI often takes content without fair compensation.
Costing $5 per month, Comet Plus also powers Perplexity’s new revenue-sharing program.
The startup has set aside $42.5 million to distribute among publishers based on how often AI agents use their content, whether it’s read, searched for, or delivered.
This new payment model covers human visits, search citations, and AI-driven tasks, recognizing how publishers add value in the AI era.
