Cracker Barrel announced it is bringing back its Old Country Store look, halting all restaurant remodels after facing heavy criticism for its recent rebrand.
The chain’s new logo, revealed in late August, dropped its “Uncle Herschel” character and removed the words “Old Country Store” for a sleeker design.
The change sparked major backlash online, with critics, including former President Donald Trump, calling it a mistake.
The company had also begun testing a modern restaurant layout at four of its 660 locations, but said customer feedback made it clear the redesign didn’t reflect what fans love about Cracker Barrel.
In a statement, the chain promised to preserve its vintage Americana style, from porch rocking chairs and fireplaces to peg games and antiques.
After returning to the old logo, Cracker Barrel’s shares jumped more than 8% in one day.
Cracker Barrel originally planned the rebrand as part of its 2024 strategic transformation plan, which aimed to modernize 25 to 30 stores in 2025.
While the company confirmed it will still invest in keeping restaurants updated, it reassured guests that its iconic “Old Country Store” identity will remain at the heart of the brand.
