Google Cloud has released its 2025 DORA Report, spotlighting the rapid adoption of AI in software development.

According to the survey of nearly 5,000 professionals worldwide, 90% of developers now use AI in their daily workflows, a 14% jump from last year.

Most spend around two hours a day with AI tools, and more than 80% report productivity gains, while 59% say AI has improved code quality.

The report also shows that AI is helping teams ship software faster, reversing negative trends seen in past years.

Yet, despite its benefits, the research highlights a trust paradox.

While many developers find AI useful, only 24% say they trust it “a lot” or “a great deal,” with 30% expressing little to no trust.

This suggests AI is widely seen as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human judgment.

The DORA report also introduces a new AI Capabilities Model, outlining seven critical cultural and technical practices organizations need to fully unlock AI’s potential.

Together, the findings paint a clear picture: AI is transforming how software is built, but long-term success depends on evolving company culture and workflows alongside the technology.
