Midjourney’s V1 Video Model Brings Your Images to Life

Midjourney released its first AI video generation model, V1, on June 18, 2025, enabling users to transform static images into five-second video clips, extendable to 21 seconds. Accessible via Discord and the web, V1 offers automatic or manual animation modes and low or high motion settings.

Priced at eight times the cost of image generation, it’s available on the $10/month Basic plan, with unlimited generations for Pro and Mega plan subscribers in “Relax” mode. The model competes with OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo 3.

CEO David Holz said V1 is a step toward real-time 3D simulations. However, a lawsuit from Disney and Universal alleges copyright infringement over AI-generated character images.

Users praise V1’s ease and visual quality for low-motion scenes but note limitations like no audio support or advanced editing. Midjourney plans to refine pricing and expand features to target creative professionals.
