Apple Partners With MP Materials To Make A $500 Million Deal

Apple has entered a $500 million multiyear partnership with MP Materials to produce recycled rare earth magnets for Apple products at MP’s Fort Worth, Texas, facility, with shipments starting in 2027.
The deal will expand the Fort Worth plant and establish a new recycling line at MP’s Mountain Pass, California, site to process rare earths from end-of-life products.
Building on five years of collaboration on advanced recycling technology, the partnership will create high-skilled jobs, provide workforce training, and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign rare earths.
MP Materials’ CEO James Litinsky and Apple’s Tim Cook emphasized the deal’s role in strengthening domestic supply chains and driving sustainable innovation in critical materials for technology.
