NEA Partners With Microsoft To Advance AI In Education

The National Education Association, the largest provider of education micro-credentials in the U.S., has received a $325,000 grant from Microsoft Elevate to support educators as they adapt to the growing role of artificial intelligence in classrooms.

Announced in Washington on September 10, 2025, the partnership will help more than 10,000 NEA members build AI literacy, develop new micro-credentials, and contribute to the design of Microsoft’s AI tools.

NEA President Becky Pringle emphasized that AI is reshaping education in profound ways, saying, “This technology will continue to fundamentally change the way we teach and learn.”

Microsoft Vice Chair Brad Smith added that the initiative is about ensuring educators and students remain at the center of AI adoption, fostering creativity, confidence, and critical thinking.

Building on a prior collaboration with ISTE, this effort will expand AI-focused professional learning while also guiding policy and leadership development across NEA’s state affiliates.

The goal is to promote safe, equitable, and human-centered use of AI in education.
