RIKEN, Japan’s top science research institute, is building the next version of its famous supercomputer, Fugaku.
For the first time, this new FugakuNEXT system will include NVIDIA GPUs as its accelerators alongside Fujitsu’s CPUs.
RIKEN, Fujitsu, and NVIDIA are working closely to design a powerful AI-focused supercomputer that will handle both simulations and AI tasks with top performance.
FugakuNEXT will be a game changer, blending super-fast simulation with artificial intelligence.
It uses Fujitsu’s new MONAKA‑X CPUs plus NVIDIA GPUs connected through NVLink Fusion for ultra-high data speeds.
The goal? To create a supercomputer that’s five times faster in hardware and 100 times faster in real-world tasks than its predecessor.
Applications will range from disaster modeling to drug discovery and advanced manufacturing.
