One year after unveiling its fifth-generation Spectacles and Snap OS, Snapchat has introduced Snap OS 2.0, the next step toward the public launch of Spectacles in 2026.
Snap OS powers real-time AI experiences on Spectacles, allowing people to interact with the world using their hands and voice.
With version 2.0, Snap delivers a new interface, powerful utilities, and enhanced Lenses designed to make Spectacles more immersive and practical.
Among the biggest updates is the new Browser, redesigned for speed and simplicity.
It features a minimalist layout, faster page loads, optimized power usage, and tools like voice-based navigation, history controls, and resizable windows.
WebXR support also enables augmented reality experiences directly from websites.
Snap has also reimagined Spotlight with a dedicated Lens that projects vertical videos into a user’s field of view, letting them anchor or follow content as they move.
Snap OS 2.0 also introduces a Gallery Lens to scroll through Spectacles captures in a spacious, interactive carousel, plus Travel Mode, stabilizing AR content while on the go.
With hundreds of developers creating Lenses across 30 countries, Snapchat confirmed that popular titles like Synth Riders will soon be available.
