SpaceX has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase EchoStar’s entire portfolio of AWS-4 and H-block spectrum licenses.
The deal, valued at approximately $17 billion, includes up to $8.5 billion in cash and up to $8.5 billion in SpaceX stock.
As part of the agreement, SpaceX will also fund around $2 billion in cash interest payments on EchoStar’s debt through November 2027, underscoring the scale of the transaction.
The acquisition marks a significant step for SpaceX as it strengthens its infrastructure and spectrum holdings to support advanced connectivity services.
With control over these licenses, SpaceX will be better positioned to expand the reach and capabilities of its satellite internet and communications technology.
For EchoStar, the deal provides both liquidity and long-term financial stability, while ensuring its assets are leveraged to fuel the next era of space-based communication.
