Tesla is launching a Megapack energy storage project in California, scheduled for delivery in 2026.

With a total investment of $275 million, this utility-scale battery system will provide enough stored energy to power approximately 385,000 homes for four hours daily.

This massive installation reflects California’s accelerating shift toward renewable power coupled with storage, allowing utilities to smooth out intermittent solar and wind generation.

Tesla’s Megapacks, capable of storing around 3–3.9 MWh per unit with high round-trip efficiency, are increasingly used in large-scale deployments aimed at peak shaving and grid reliability across the state.
