Tesla’s Robotaxi App Features “Just Kidding” Tip Easter Egg

Tesla’s Robotaxi app, which debuted in Austin on June 22, 2025, includes a playful Easter egg that has caught the attention of early users.

When riders attempt to leave a tip after their autonomous journey, the app responds with a “Just Kidding” message, as highlighted in a post by @cb_doge on X.

This feature is part of Tesla’s strategy to differentiate its driverless taxi service from traditional rideshare platforms, where tipping is often expected.

The Easter egg appears when users tap the tip option, revealing a screen with the phrase “Just Kidding” alongside a whimsical design, reinforcing the app’s lighthearted take on the absence of human drivers.

Tesla’s Robotaxi service charges a flat rate of $4.20 per ride, a deliberate choice that eliminates the need for tips and streamlines the user experience.

This approach not only simplifies transactions but also aligns with Tesla’s vision of a fully autonomous future where additional payments are unnecessary.
