Think with Team Vavoza (May 2024)
Welcome back to another issue of Think with Team Vavoza, one of our favorite monthly series in Vavoza Insider, in which key members of our team share their raw and unfiltered thoughts, ideas, and insights to help nurture your “marketer’s mind” (more on this later).
In this issue, Stephanie discusses overcoming imperfections and setbacks, Vadim shares a simple yet overlooked tip for standing out from competitors in today’s market, and Vlad gives insight into how you can become an expert marketer step-by-step and transform your life!
Steph’s Thoughts
Setbacks are inevitable. So are imperfections.
When you were a baby, you didn’t walk straight on your feet. You crawled first, then held onto mom’s hand or anything nearby, just to stand for a couple of seconds before landing back on your bottom. A couple of months after those landings, you stood on your two paws more steadily. And only a couple of years in, you could walk and run. Yet still, occasionally, you fell, too.
Doesn’t starting and running a business feel somewhat similar? However, the only hand you have to hold now is your own. If you are lucky, you may have a partner who is your support system or a mentor who gives you good advice. But just like learning how to walk, it is 99% up to you to get on your feet, and the way you do that is through action!
It’s easier said than done, but without action, nothing happens. And taking action can look messy. At first, you might not have a clue about what you’re doing. Still, after a couple of months, you may begin to understand which ad goes where and how much it costs. Sometime after that, you might develop a stable understanding of who your target audience is, which social media brings you the most exposure, and how your CRM works.
(Of course, everyone’s timeline is different; however, the overall process is similar, I think.)
One day, you wake up and realize that what you spent seven months watching videos or reading newsletters about (and then another nine months working on) suddenly worked. “Hallelujah!” you think. Then comes an unexpected change in the world of social media or technology, and now you have to learn something new that could set you back in your progress.
Some people give up when encountering those setbacks. Well, I am here to remind you that you just spent all that time, money, and energy to get your business rolling, and now all you have to do is learn how to get through that setback! Don’t let it discourage you.
Setbacks and imperfections are inevitable, but so is your success if you consistently take action in the direction of your dreams.

Vadim’s POV
This really grinds my gears… ⚙
I’m going to talk about an observation I have made in the last few months. I’ve discussed this with some friends, and we all came to the same conclusion. It doesn’t matter what kind of business you are in – service-based, online, or brick-and-mortar – everyone can implement this.
Have you ever called a company or a customer service number, pressed #1 on your keypad, and answered a robot’s questions for 15 minutes only to get hung up on? Or called a service-based company and got sent to their voicemail nonstop – and after leaving a voicemail, they don’t even call you back?
Going back to 2010, when I had my own lawn care company, if I missed a phone call, most likely, the next company they called answered and got their business. Nowadays, you can call five companies in a row and not get an answer or receive a callback.
What I’m trying to say is that with a little customer service (and by simply answering your phone or being responsive), you’ll be better off than 90% of your competition.
And after you get the client, keep being responsive and professional, and your clients will advertise your business for you out of appreciation and mutual respect.
Try it; you’ll thank me later. 🙂

Vlad’s Insight
In this month’s issue of Think with Team Vavoza, I will share something that I believe every marketer on the planet must know (and have) to be GREAT at what they do.
Do you know what separates a mediocre marketer from one who is remarkable at his or her craft? What allows one marketer to produce good results despite coming across endless roadblocks while another doesn’t produce and struggles to overcome a single roadblock?
Hint: It’s not what channels or sources they use to run ad campaigns or how well they know various marketing platforms and how to use them. It’s also not about how good they are at making noise, grabbing attention, and influencing others.
As a marketer who has managed numerous multimillion-dollar marketing campaigns for our agency’s clients over the years and collaborated with countless agencies and marketers to manage said campaigns (and as someone who thinks a lot), I determined that one primary factor determines how good a marketer someone is – it all comes down to what’s in the marketer’s brain.
Expert marketers perceive the world in a certain way, and this perception influences all areas of our lives. We can’t help but see marketing all around us – it’s in the simple interactions with our local barista, emotion-evoking worship songs and sermons at church, intimate conversations with our loved ones, complex strategy sessions with our clients, etc.
We understand that someone is constantly influencing someone in some way (consciously or not), and we can’t help but wonder, “What is the objective here?”
So, why do we perceive the world in such a strange way? It’s because that is what we do to earn a living. We constantly think about how we can influence or impact a segment of a target market to achieve a desired outcome (typically earning our clients more money and helping them build a loyal customer base).
We understand “cause and effect” in a very practical way and probably better than anyone else (except maybe stock traders, computer programmers, data analysts, and other tech nerds…maybe…haha). 🙂
Where am I going with this?
Good marketers are weird, and we become wired this way due to mastering our craft.
However, I strongly believe that if you truly want to be a great marketer, able to continually solve challenges and deliver remarkable results to your clients (and yourself), you must develop an expert marketer’s mind above all other marketing skills.
In other words, you must allow yourself to become a bit “weird,” so to speak (unless you can get the same outcome by being “normal,” of course).
Here’s why you want to focus on developing an expert marketer’s mind above all else:
- As an expert marketer, you will be able to troubleshoot marketing campaigns and solve challenges on the spot! You won’t wonder about solutions – you will create them quickly and effortlessly.
- You will be able to go to any platform and run successful ad campaigns at will. Heck, you won’t even need a tutorial to learn the platform because you will understand what you need to do conceptually enough to make it happen.
- You’ll be able to learn new skills more quickly and effectively, and you will comprehend what you learn on a deeper level.
- You will understand how to be strategic and deliberate in your marketing efforts.
- Ready for the best part? Once you develop an expert marketer’s mind, you will discover endless possibilities and gain clarity on achieving your goals!
So, how does one go about developing an expert marketer’s mind?
It’s actually quite simple (but most marketers probably won’t do this):
- Continually fill your mind with marketing information from credible sources (learn strategies, tactics, ideas, insights, etc.).
- Put your knowledge to the test; experiment continually!
- Exercise your critical thinking skills and produce original ideas based on your experiments, experiences, research, and observations. Also, practice speaking or putting your ideas into writing (this allows you to solidify, expand on, and articulate your ideas).
- Focus on results – you know you’re good at what you do once your original ideas consistently produce good results.
When you do this for an extended period of time, you won’t help but start seeing things differently. You will change in more ways than one, and it will do wonders for you and your business!
Now, feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt, but what I just shared is exactly what I did, and it completely transformed my life in a matter of a few short years.
As a result of my own transformation, I was able to impact my clients’ lives in ways I could only imagine years ago. And now, my team and I are on a mission to impact many more lives with Vavoza Insider and Vavoza Insider Plus – and we are very passionate about it!
