Threads Launches Messaging and Highlighter Features

Meta has added direct messaging and a “Threads highlighter” feature to its Threads platform.

Direct messaging allows one-on-one chats with emoji reactions, spam reporting, and muting options, with group chats planned for future updates.

The highlighter feature emphasizes trending topics and unique posts in the For You feed and explore tab, aiming to enhance content discovery.

These updates position Threads as a standalone app focused on fostering open, engaging conversations, distinct from Instagram. By integrating these features, Meta aims to deepen user connections and keep pace with evolving social media trends.

This strategic move strengthens Threads’ appeal as a hub for meaningful dialogue, setting it up to rival platforms like X.
