Uber and Waymo Bring Driverless Rides to Atlanta

Starting today, June 24, 2025, Atlantans can experience a new way to get around as Uber teams up with Waymo to bring fully autonomous, all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles to the city.
Covering a 65-square-mile area from Downtown to Buckhead and Capitol View, riders booking UberX, Comfort, or Comfort Electric might be matched with a driverless Waymo car at no extra cost.
Want to try it? Opt in through the Ride Preferences section in the Uber app, and you can still choose a human driver if you’re not ready for a robot road trip. This marks Atlanta as the second city after Austin to welcome this cutting-edge service, building on the success of their Phoenix partnership.
Waymo’s vehicles, backed by millions of autonomous miles and a strong safety record, handle the driving while Uber takes care of fleet operations like charging and cleaning.
With plans to grow the fleet and service area, this collaboration aims to make Atlanta’s commutes greener and more reliable. Locals can join the interest list in the Uber app to boost their chances of snagging a ride, though airport trips and interstate travel aren’t available yet.
Get ready to cruise Atlanta’s streets in style—without a driver.
