Which AI Chat Bot Is The Best?
Artificial intelligence is everywhere, much like marketing: in our phones, our speakers, social media platforms, banking apps, and even restaurants.
According to a recent study done by Amazon Web Services, roughly 57% of web-based text is AI-generated or translated, and that number is constantly growing.
(Which, by the way, we can argue is not a good thing, but that’s a different topic for a different article…)
Today, we’ll explore some of the most talked-about AI chatbots in the world. We will uncover what they can do, how much they cost, and the best practices for each.
Starting with this one… 👇
Gemini
Previously known as Bard, Google’s Gemini entered the AI scene in March 2023 and is currently considered one of the dominant AIs.
Gemini is multimodal, which means it can work with various languages (including code), images, videos, and audio.
Gemini has various capabilities and has been integrated into Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and even has its own app. It can assist any industry professional. For instance, you can use its capabilities for ideation, research, sales, marketing, and writing assistance.
Gemini likes clear and concise prompts that consist of relevant keywords and is still learning to deal with complex problems. The best way to present a complex query to this AI is to break it down into smaller, more achievable tasks.
The platform also recommends follow-up prompts and using different phrasing for better, more precise results.
If you are working with images, the AI recommends imputing images first, before the verbal prompt. Here’s how to create images with Gemini.
Gemini has two plans: a free one and an advanced one, which gives you access to the latest AI innovations, priority access to new features, 2TB of storage, and more for just $20/ month.
Keep in mind that Gemini is an experimental AI, and while it produces good results, take everything it says with a grain of salt.
ChatGPT
Is there anyone who hasn’t used ChatGPT yet? Fun fact: they recently acquired quite a desired domain for themselves – chat.com 👏
OpenAI released ChatGPT in November 2022, and if you remember, it’s what started the whole mainstream AI craze that continues to this day.
ChatGPT is trained to understand and produce human-like text. It can answer questions in a variety of formats and produce content – both written and visual.
Here are some good practices for optimal results with ChatGPT:
According to ChatGPT itself, it likes clear, direct prompts, but it also needs relevant details if those are necessary for the result you’re looking for.
It also recommends iterations, such as follow-up questions, and examples of what you might be looking for, such as a specific format or answer style.
ChatGPT recommends that you experiment with your prompts and try different approaches and temperatures to acquire the desired result, as “temperature controls randomness.”
This AI is a conversational assistant that can assist you with tasks like brainstorming, generating ideas, writing content, and answering your questions.
However, the platform might require you to break down complex tasks into smaller, more achievable ones for better results.
Give it direction: set the tone, ask for the desired style, set roles and formality, and ask for sources if needed.
Chat GPT offers a free version and a paid one called ChatGPT Plus.
The ChatGPT Plus subscription costs $20/ month for individual accounts and $25/ month for organization accounts. It offers access to a more advanced and capable version and priority access to new, improved versions.
According to ChatGPT, it should not be used as a replacement for professionals, so it encourages you to fact-check the information provided (which should be standard practice anyway).
Perplexity AI
Known for its innovation, versatility, reliability, adaptability, and compactness, Perplexity AI compares itself to a Swiss Army Knife, as both are tools designed to assist with various tasks while staying relevant and compact.
Released in August 2022, Perplexity is a free AI-powered search engine and chatbot that processes queries using natural language processing and machine learning.
As an alternative search engine, Perplexity AI focuses on finding and summarizing existing information from the web. And it’s pretty darn good at finding relevant information (arguably even better than Google’s Gemini).
It can be used for various tasks, such as professional learning, research assistance, educational support, content creation, and automated customer support.
Perplexity has a free Quick Search version and Perplexity Pro, which offers features like file analysis, API credits, pro support through a Discord channel, powerful AI models, and more for $20/ month or $200/ year.
The AI likes clarity and instruction. Background information will help the AI understand you better, and keywords help Perplexity focus on relevance.
Just like others, this AI asks you to refine your prompts and try different phrasing and approaches if you are not receiving the desired answer.
Perplexity AI likes simplicity but asks you to avoid being vague. It also prefers to focus on one task at a time, so avoid complex sentences with multiple requests.
Perplexity can “provide you with reliable and adaptable solutions in the user-friendly form,” and sticking to the recommended practices will help you achieve the desired results.
Grok
Built by Elon Musk’s xAI team and released in early November of ‘23, Grok is known as the “rebellious AI chatbot”; Grok’s developers do not recommend this one if you don’t appreciate humor.
Grok is a part of the X platform, which means that it has access to real-time information about the world via X.
To access Grok, you must be a subscriber of X Premium at $7/month or X Premium+ at $14/month.
The bot is similar to other AI chatbots and can perform similar tasks, such as generating images, answering questions, automating tasks, drafting emails, generating ideas, and solving coding problems.
Grok’s unique feature is its direct access to X posts, which allows it to analyze posts and offer insight into real-time sentiment about various current events and topics.
The AI prefers specific, well-worded prompts and details. It can handle both simple and complex queries; however, like the others in this industry, it is still learning.
Grok has two modes: Regular and Fun. The Fun mode will respond to any type of questions, even uncensored ones, or those other chatbots would find harmful and refuse to answer (mwa-ha-ha-ha).
Grok’s dad, Elon Musk, advocates for freedom of speech, so it’s fair to assume that this bot has the potential to become one of the most trustworthy, reliable, and unbiased AIs.
Sora by Open AI
While not yet available to the public, Open AI is testing Sora – an AI model that can create realistic and imaginative videos from detailed text instructions.
The model can create videos up to 60 seconds long while following the user’s prompt and maintaining visual quality.
Open AI is currently testing Sora among select creative professionals, but there is talk about releasing it to the public by the end of 2024.
From what Open AI has shared, Sora likes detailed prompts that consist of 1-3 sentences and mention as many details as possible for the best results.
The model can understand not only basic prompts but also complex scenes with multiple characters, motion graphics, and details. It also understands how all of the details coexist in the real world so that the end result makes sense!
While all of this sounds very advanced, Open AI admits that Sora still has room for improvement, but that’s what the testing and research phase is for.
Speaking of converting text to video, have you heard of Invideo AI?
Closing Remarks
If you’ve made it here, you should now be fully equipped to go and try these AI chatbots. All of them have similar capabilities, and all have both advantages and disadvantages over their competitors.
Some are formal and require preciseness, and some like details and offer entertaining, conversational, and witty responses.
All AIs are teachable and customizable and can adapt to your style, temperature, and specific requirements – all depending on your personal preferences and business needs.
Try each of these AI bots and see which ones resonates with you most.
Sometimes, it all boils down to convenience, but it also depends on what you are trying to accomplish:
- For instance, we use Grok when scrolling on X and to gauge sentiment about current world events, and Gemini via Google’s SGE results and across various Google products.
Perplexity, on the other hand, is useful for research as it seems to focus more on pulling existing information from the web rather than generating creative ideas like other chatbots (which are often factually incorrect).
But to be honest, they’re all good enough and will keep improving, and any one of them can help you achieve your desired business and marketing objectives. That is if you use them correctly – to assist you, not replace you or your team.
