Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI and his platform X have sued Apple and OpenAI in Texas.
The lawsuit claims the two giants unfairly favor OpenAI’s ChatGPT by making it the only AI chatbot integrated into iPhones while sidelining competitors like xAI’s Grok.
xAI argues that this exclusive deal blocks fair competition and maintains monopolies in both the smartphone and AI markets.
The complaint also says Apple hides rival chatbot apps from key App Store sections, like “Must-Have Apps”, making them hard to discover even if they rank well in downloads.
xAI is seeking damages and wants a court order to stop what it calls anticompetitive behavior.
