YouTube’s New AI Overviews Help You Find Videos Faster

On June 26, 2025, YouTube launched AI-powered search overviews to make finding videos and information easier, starting with Premium subscribers in the U.S.
The new search results carousel displays video clips alongside topic summaries for queries like “best beaches in Hawaii” or “top hiking gear,” offering a quick snapshot of relevant content, according to YouTube’s official blog.
This feature targets topics like travel, shopping, and local activities, helping users dive into videos without endless scrolling.
YouTube is also expanding its Gemini-powered conversational AI chat, previously exclusive to Premium users, to some non-Premium U.S. users.
This lets people ask follow-up questions about videos, like “What’s the best trail in this vlog?” to get instant answers. Both tools aim to streamline searches and boost engagement, with YouTube planning broader rollouts soon, per the announcement.
Early feedback on X praises the ease but notes creator concerns about AI summaries potentially cutting video views.
