Hyperion – By Meta for Meta
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced the development of Hyperion, a massive 5-gigawatt AI data center set to be constructed in Richland Parish, Louisiana. This is part of Meta’s ambitious push to advance artificial intelligence and compete with rivals like OpenAI and Google.
Hyperion is expected to scale up to 5GW over several years, with a footprint large enough to cover a significant portion of Manhattan. It will support Meta’s Superintelligence Lab by providing enough power for training advanced AI models.
This move follows Meta’s aggressive talent acquisition and a $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI, signaling a strategic focus on building industry-leading AI infrastructure.
