Over 72,000 Images Exposed On Tea During A Cyber Attack

The viral women-only app Tea, known for letting users anonymously post and review information about men they’ve dated, has experienced a significant security incident.
In its official cyber incident statement, Tea confirmed unauthorized access occurred at 6:44 AM PST on July 25, 2025, targeting a legacy storage system containing data from before February 2024.
Approximately 13,000 selfies and photo identification images submitted during account verification and another 59,000 publicly posted images were exposed, totaling around 72,000 images .
Tea emphasized that no email addresses, phone numbers, or user data from accounts created after February 2024 were compromised.
The exposed data was archived due to law enforcement compliance for cyberbullying prevention, not due to any ongoing collection, and Tea has since removed its ID verification requirement.
The breach was initially discovered by users on 4chan and reported by 404 Media, leading to swift investigation and remediation with third-party cybersecurity experts.
Tea states that no evidence suggests further data compromise and continues working to secure impacted systems
