NotebookLM has upgraded its AI-powered research experience with three new audio overview formats, Brief, Critique, and Debate, expanding beyond the default Deep Dive style.
The new formats offer flexibility depending on your needs: Brief delivers a concise 1–2 minute summary, Critique provides expert-style feedback on your content, and Debate stages a back-and-forth discussion exploring contrasting viewpoints.
Users can access them by tapping the pencil icon in the Audio Overview card.
This option joins other customization options like language, length, and prompt-based adjustments.
This update coincides with global enhancements to support richer audio in over 80 languages and expanded Video Overviews, making NotebookLM more multilingual and accessible than ever.
The expanded formats give users more than just summaries, they add depth, feedback, and multiple perspectives, enhancing how creators, students, and professionals interact with their notes.
