Microsoft has announced that accelerating cloud adoption across the Australian government could unlock AUD 1.4 billion in annual productivity gains.
The projection comes from a Mandala report commissioned by Microsoft, which found that modernizing IT infrastructure and moving away from outdated legacy systems would free staff from repetitive tasks and allow them to focus on higher-value work.
The report highlights New South Wales as an example, where the government has already committed to moving 25 percent of its IT services to the cloud over five years.
By adopting AI-enabled, cloud-based platforms, agencies can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create more responsive services for citizens.
Microsoft says these changes would streamline operations and accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
