Microsoft announced a $30 billion investment in the United Kingdom to strengthen AI infrastructure and deepen transatlantic technology ties.

The four-year plan (2025–2028) includes $15 billion in capital expenditures to build the nation’s largest supercomputer with over 23,000 NVIDIA GPUs in partnership with Nscale.

The initiative comes ahead of President Trump’s state visit and marks Microsoft’s biggest-ever financial commitment in the UK.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called it a “powerful vote of confidence” in Britain’s AI leadership, highlighting its role in supporting jobs, innovation, and the country’s Plan for Change.

The investment will expand Microsoft’s datacenter footprint to meet growing demand from UK institutions like Barclays, Vodafone, the NHS, and the London Stock Exchange Group, which are rapidly adopting AI tools such as Copilot.

Microsoft also pledged support for its 6,000-strong UK workforce and ongoing operations across AI research, product development, and gaming.

Beyond infrastructure, the company has trained more than one million people in AI skills, helping prepare the British workforce for the future.

Microsoft says the investment fuels innovation and reinforces the UK-US Technology Partnership, ensuring both nations remain leaders in the AI-powered economy.
