OpenAI and NVIDIA have signed a letter of intent for a landmark strategic partnership to build at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA-powered AI datacenters, representing millions of GPUs for OpenAI’s next-generation infrastructure.

NVIDIA plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as each gigawatt is deployed, beginning with the first rollout in late 2026 on NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform.

The collaboration aims to provide the computing power needed to train and scale OpenAI’s future models, advancing the path toward superintelligence.

Leaders from both companies highlighted the long-standing relationship that began with the first DGX supercomputer and grew through milestones like ChatGPT.

Jensen Huang emphasized this as the “next leap forward” in AI, while Sam Altman noted that compute is the foundation of the future economy.

OpenAI will rely on NVIDIA as a preferred partner to co-optimize model development with NVIDIA’s hardware and software.

This partnership complements OpenAI’s existing ecosystem with Microsoft, Oracle, and SoftBank, and will play a crucial role in scaling AI innovation to hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
