Perplexity has officially launched Perplexity Research, a new research lab dedicated to advancing the company’s vision of internet-scale AI.
The lab will focus on pushing the boundaries of AI models and infrastructure by building on past innovations like referential grounding, agentic search, and real-time assistants.
The goal is to create AI that faithfully scales to the size and complexity of the internet while remaining accurate, robust, and aligned with user intent.
The new lab’s agenda centers around four key areas: reinforcement learning for real-world environments, agentic interaction to power personalized superintelligence, advanced retrieval systems for AI-driven search, and distributed systems built for long-lived, resource-intensive workloads.
With millions of users and thousands of enterprises already relying on its products, Perplexity Research aims to deliver breakthroughs that shape the future of AI and ship directly into tools people use every day.
