Perplexity has finally released the Comet browser to the public, and it is free to download following a record-breaking waitlist.
First released in limited release on July 9, Comet gained immediate popularity as one of the most anticipated AI products of the year with millions of users clamoring to get access.
Day one usage by initial users resulted in 6–18X more inquiry, demonstrating how curiosity-based exploration alters the dynamics of individuals engaging with the internet.
In conjunction with the release, Perplexity also announced Comet Assistants, including the Email Assistant for inbox tasks and Background Assistants which asynchronously finish work to eliminate to-do lists.
Comet is also slated for mobile launch with AI-powered browsing, easy interfaces, and advanced voice controls.
Comet Plus unites Perplexity with leading publishers to champion quality journalism so that better AI experiences are matched with better online content.
