Snap Inc. and Perplexity have announced a new partnership that will bring Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine directly into Snapchat, enabling nearly one billion monthly active users to ask questions and receive conversational, cited answers within the app.
From early 2026, Snapchatters will start to see Perplexity appear within the Chat interface, offering real-time information discovery powered by verified sources, the first large-scale integration of an external AI partner inside Snapchat.
As part of the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million in cash and equity as the feature rolls out globally.
This deal highlights Snap’s strategy to be the platform for trusted AI experiences, while giving Perplexity access to one of the largest mobile-native audiences in the world-especially among Gen Z.
Users will continue to interact with Snapchat’s existing My AI bot, with Perplexity joining as a complementary answer engine to help them delve deeper into topics, learn something new, or steer curiosity-driven conversations.
With more than 150 million questions answered on Perplexity every week, both companies aim for conversational AI to be even more personal, social, and seamlessly integrated into daily communication.
