Anthropic Launches Claude Tools For Healthcare and Life

Anthropic announced an expansion of its Claude AI platform for healthcare and life sciences.

The update includes the launch of Claude for Healthcare and new capabilities for Claude for Life Sciences, designed to support clinical, administrative, and research workflows.

Claude for Healthcare enables providers, payers, and developers to utilize Claude through HIPAA-compliant products.

New connectors provide Claude with access to industry data sources, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ coverage database, ICD-10 medical codes, the National Provider Identifier registry, and PubMed.

Anthropic also introduced agent skills for FHIR data exchange and prior authorization review.

The company said these tools can help with tasks such as reviewing prior authorizations, processing claims appeals, coordinating patient care, and supporting healthcare startups building documentation and decision-support systems.

Claude Enterprise is available for HIPAA-compliant organizations.

Anthropic also expanded Claude for Life Sciences with connectors to platforms including Medidata, ClinicalTrials.gov, bioRxiv, medRxiv, ChEMBL, and Open Targets.

New agent skills were added for drafting clinical trial protocols, tracking trial performance, and preparing regulatory submissions.

Why This Matters Today

Healthcare and life sciences face heavy administrative and regulatory burdens that slow care delivery and drug development.

For you, this means AI tools like Claude are being positioned to automate data-heavy workflows rather than only answer general questions.

The update also reflects growing competition among AI providers to serve regulated industries.

By incorporating HIPAA-ready products and establishing direct connections to clinical and research databases, Anthropic is aiming for deeper integration into healthcare and pharmaceutical operations.

Our Key Takeaways:

  • Anthropic launched Claude for Healthcare and expanded Claude for Life Sciences with new connectors and agent skills.

  • The tools connect Claude to medical, clinical trial, and regulatory data sources to support real-world healthcare workflows.

  • The move signals increased focus on regulated industries as AI companies compete to embed their models into clinical and research systems.
