Apple Services Hit Records In 2025, Apple Says

Apple announced that 2025 was a record-breaking year for its services business, citing growth across various products, including the App Store, Apple Pay, Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, iCloud, and Apple News.

The company shared the update on January 12, 2026, in a newsroom post attributed to services chief Eddy Cue.

Apple reported that the App Store had more than 850 million weekly users globally in 2025, across 175 countries and regions.

Apple also stated that developers selling digital goods and services on the App Store have earned more than $550 billion since the store’s launch in 2008.

Apple said Apple Pay has expanded to 89 markets and, using Apple and industry data, has prevented “well over” $1 billion in fraud over the past year, while generating more than $100 billion in incremental merchant sales globally.

Apple also stated that Apple Pay purchases outpaced overall consumer spending growth during the peak holiday shopping period in November and December.

Apple announced that Apple TV set a monthly engagement record in December 2025, with total hours viewed increasing 36% year over year.

Additionally, Apple Music reached all-time highs in listenership and new subscribers during 2025.

The company also highlighted feature updates across services, including AI-assisted order tracking in Wallet, AutoMix and lyrics tools in Music, and new accessibility and navigation features in Podcasts.

Why This Matters Today

Apple’s services segment has become a core part of how customers stay inside Apple’s product stack, spanning payments, entertainment, storage, and the App Store.

For you, the company’s 2025 metrics are a signal of how Apple is measuring services growth: engagement, geographic expansion, and the ability to drive commerce on-device.

The update also shows Apple continuing to tie services improvements to on-device and privacy-centered features, such as on-device intelligence in Maps and Wallet workflows.

If Apple keeps layering these features into everyday apps, service differentiation may depend less on new standalone launches and more on upgrades embedded into existing surfaces customers already use daily.
