Salesforce said on January 13, 2026, that a new version of Slackbot was now generally available for Slack Business+ and Enterprise+ customers.
The company said Slackbot now acted as a personal AI agent built directly into Slack, designed to help employees find information, create content, and take actions without leaving the app.
The launch followed Salesforce’s earlier Agentforce 360 announcement at Dreamforce, which positioned Slack as the main interface for working with AI agents connected to company data and workflows.
Salesforce said Slackbot used conversational data, files, and business systems to provide responses that reflected each employee’s role and permissions.
Salesforce said Slackbot could search past conversations and files, draft meeting notes and project updates, create shared canvases, and schedule meetings.
The company said the agent respected existing Slack access controls and only surfaced information a user was authorized to see.
Slackbot was being rolled out in phases starting January 13.
Salesforce said enterprise administrators could control or restrict access through February 10, 2026 as the deployment expanded.
Why This Matters Today
If you work in Slack on a supported plan, this has changed how AI tools are delivered at work.
Instead of switching between separate apps or assistants, Slackbot resides in the same place where teams already communicate and share files, according to Salesforce.
Salesforce was betting that built-in context would make workplace AI more reliable.
Slackbot used conversation history, documents, and connected Salesforce data, which the company said reduced errors caused by missing or outdated information.
The rollout also showed how Salesforce was positioning Slack as the control layer for its broader agent platform.
As more AI agents were added through Agentforce, Slackbot was set to become the main way employees interacted with them inside the company’s daily workflow.
