Google has announced the biggest Chrome upgrade in its history, rolling out 10 new AI-powered features designed to make browsing smarter, safer, and more productive.
At the center of the update is Gemini in Chrome, now available for Mac and Windows users in the U.S., with mobile integration coming soon.
Gemini can clarify complex webpages, summarize across multiple tabs, recall past sites, and even interact with Google apps like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps without switching tabs.
Later this year, Chrome will also introduce agentic capabilities, letting Gemini handle repetitive tasks like booking appointments or ordering groceries directly on web pages.
Beyond productivity, Chrome is also strengthening security with AI.
Gemini Nano expands scam detection to block fake virus warnings and giveaway schemes, while Chrome reduces spammy notifications and learns user preferences for site permissions.
Other updates include AI Mode search directly from the omnibox, contextual page insights, and a one-step password change feature on major sites.
Together, these updates position Chrome as a browser built for the AI era, blending advanced safety features with tools to help users save time and get more done online.
