Civilization VII Arcade Edition Joins Apple Arcade

Apple announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition launches on the subscription service on February 5. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, the game arrives in an Arcade Edition version playable on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Players lead historical figures, expand empires through the ages of history, and make decisions that shape their civilization’s cultural path via touch controls on mobile devices or standard inputs on Mac.

This follows other PC ports to Apple Arcade, including PowerWash Simulator and Cult of the Lamb Arcade Edition.

Three additional games join the service the same day. One being Retrocade by Resolution Games, an immersive collection of classic arcade titles such as Asteroids, Bubble Bobble, Centipede, and Galaga, available on Apple Vision Pro with full immersion, and also on iPhone and iPad.

The other, Felicity’s Door by Area 35, is a rhythm game set in a dream world with twins Tom and Felicity, plus bear Mi-Chan across space, cliffs, and cyberpunk settings. The last one, I Love Hue Too+ by Zut Games, is a puzzle title where players arrange colored tiles into ordered patterns. All games launch without ads or in-app purchases.

Why This Matters Today

The addition of Civilization VII marks one of the highest-profile PC strategy titles to reach Apple Arcade since its focus on premium, subscription-only experiences.

The original Civilization VII released for consoles and PC in February 2025, and this mobile-optimized version broadens access for subscribers on Apple devices without separate purchases.

Apple Arcade continues to attract ports of established franchises while adding original and returning App Store titles. A separate update arrives January 22 with a limited-time Paddington event in Crayola Create and Play+, featuring winter activities.
