Coinbase unveiled a suite of new financial products on Wednesday, headlined by the rollout of stock trading and prediction markets for United States users.
The cryptocurrency exchange announced that US customers can now buy and sell equities and ETFs alongside digital assets within a single interface, offering zero-commission trading available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Additionally, the company introduced access to prediction markets powered by Kalshi, enabling users to trade on real-world event outcomes, and launched a simplified interface for trading futures and perpetuals.
The expansion represents a strategic shift toward what the company terms an “Everything Exchange,” aiming to consolidate traditional and decentralized finance.
Beyond equities, Coinbase integrated the Jupiter aggregator to support Solana token trading directly in its main app and rolled out “Coinbase Advisor,” an AI-driven tool for portfolio management.
The update also included the general availability of Coinbase Business in the US and Singapore, as well as the global launch of the Base App, which combines social features with on-chain trading.
Looking ahead, Coinbase signaled plans to bridge these new offerings with on-chain technology, specifically outlining a future roadmap for tokenized stocks that would enable 24/7 global trading and instant settlements.
The company also announced “Coinbase Tokenize,” an institutional platform for real-world asset tokenization slated for updates early next year.
These moves position Coinbase to compete more directly with traditional brokerages while attempting to keep users within its ecosystem for all financial activities.
Key Takeaways:
