The Federal Trade Commission has announced that Match Group, the company behind popular online dating apps like Match.com, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish, will pay a $14 million settlement.

The FTC sued the company for deceptive advertising and other unfair practices.

The lawsuit claimed that Match Group tricked people into buying subscriptions by showing them messages from fake accounts.

It also said the company made it very hard for customers to cancel their subscriptions, which is an unfair business practice.

The $14 million will be used to compensate the harmed customers.

Match Group must change how it does business as part of this settlement.

The company must stop all its old deceptive advertising and give clearer rules for special offers, like the “six-month guarantee.”

Most importantly, the company must now make it simple for users to cancel their dating app subscriptions.

They are also not allowed to punish users who complain about billing problems.

This FTC settlement is a big win for consumers and forces the company to be more honest and fair with its customers.
