Grokipedia, the much-hyped competitor to Wikipedia from Elon Musk, has finally launched.
Built by xAI, the service promises to deliver an AI-fueled, faster encyclopedia experience that Musk claims will dish up “instant facts with zero bias.”
The site launched with over 885,000 articles in its first cut and leverages the company’s Grok AI tech to generate and update pages automatically based on real-time data from X (formerly Twitter) and other verified web sources.
Musk has been criticizing Wikipedia since time immemorial for having “left-wing bias” and being behind on moderation. Grokipedia promises to rectify those problems with auto fact-checking, open sourcing, and multilingualism for over 40 languages.
Errors can be directly marked and flagged by users, with human editors tracking major changes.
The site design resembles Wikipedia, but with a dark color scheme, embedded proof links, and AI-powered live edits.
Although the initial users have reported some technical issues, Grokipedia is another attempt by Musk to redefine cyber knowledge and overthrow conventional digital platforms.
