Instagram rolled out three new features designed to make the platform more social and personalized.
Users are able to repost content directly to their profiles, similar to retweets on X, making it easier to share posts from others.
The Friend Map lets you see where your friends have recently been, similar to Snapchat’s Snap Map. It’s private by default and only visible to people you choose.
Lastly, Instagram is testing a Friends Feed inside the Reels tab, allowing users to swipe through Reels exclusively from people they follow.
This makes it easier to stay connected with close friends instead of just seeing algorithmic content.
These updates show Instagram’s continued push toward community-driven features and away from fully public, algorithmic feeds.
