Meta To Use AI Interactions For Personalized Content and Ads

Meta announced that starting December 16, 2025, interactions with its generative AI features will influence the content and ads people see on Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta platforms.

Notifications about the update will begin rolling out October 7, 2025, giving users advance notice before the changes take effect.

More than 1 billion people already use Meta AI each month, and the company says this update will make recommendations more relevant by factoring in conversations and prompts with its AI tools, similar to how likes, shares, and posts shape feeds today.

The update means that if you chat with Meta AI about a topic like hiking, you may start seeing related posts, groups, and ads—just as you would if you had liked a hiking page.

Meta emphasizes that users will remain in control through tools like Ads Preferences and feed settings, and sensitive conversations about religion, politics, health, and other personal topics will not be used for ad targeting.

The company states that the changes are designed to create more personalized, goal-driven experiences, while providing users with transparency and choice in how AI-driven personalization affects their feeds.
