OpenAI Buys Sky Maker To Bring AI Tools To Your Computer

OpenAI announced that it has acquired Software Applications Incorporated, the creator of Sky, a smart Mac program that enables people to communicate with their computer in everyday language.

Sky helps users write, organize, code, and manage tasks directly on the desktop. OpenAI says the vision is to have ChatGPT interface more naturally with daily computer programs.

The Sky crew will now belong to OpenAI to share its design and Mac integration know-how with ChatGPT.

“We’re creating a world where ChatGPT doesn’t just answer your questions, it assists you in accomplishing things,” said Nick Turley, VP and Head of ChatGPT. Ari Weinstein, CEO of Software Applications Incorporated, further added that Sky was intended to make computers more “empowering, customizable, and intuitive.”

The transaction was approved by the board of OpenAI and led by Fidji Simo and Nick Turley.

A fund affiliated with Sam Altman had a minority, passive stake in the firm.

OpenAI asserts that the action will allow individuals to utilize AI more conveniently on their computers, and ChatGPT will be a part of everyday digital life.
