OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, a dedicated health experience within ChatGPT focused on health and wellness information.
The company said the new feature is designed to combine user health data with chatbot responses while adding additional privacy protections for sensitive information.
ChatGPT Health allows users to connect medical records and wellness apps so responses can be grounded in personal health information.
Supported apps include Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Function, and others, with medical record integrations available in the United States through partner b.well, according to OpenAI. Connecting Apple Health requires iOS.
OpenAI stated that conversations and files in ChatGPT Health are encrypted and stored separately from other chats. Health operates in its own space with isolated memories, and conversations in Health are not used to train OpenAI’s foundation models.
Access will begin with a waitlist for a limited group of users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, with broader availability planned in the coming weeks.
The company said ChatGPT Health was developed with input from more than 260 physicians across multiple countries and specialties.
It is intended to help explain lab results, summarize medical information, prepare questions for appointments, and interpret wearable data, but is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions.
