OpenAI Moves To Dismiss xAI Lawsuit Over Trade Secrets

OpenAI has asked a federal court to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Elon Musk’s xAI, rejecting claims of trade-secret theft and contract interference.

In its filing, OpenAI argued that xAI’s complaint is vague, lacks evidence of stolen code, and misrepresents common employee transitions as misconduct.

The company further described the legal action as harassment, stating it is designed to intimidate rather than resolve legitimate disputes.

The action follows only days after xAI claimed that OpenAI stole code from Grok and Colossus, two of the most important projects of xAI.

OpenAI responded by emphasizing that no proprietary information was stolen and that the suit stifles innovation by instilling fear in AI researchers.

The lawsuit is another element of stress added to the growing competition between OpenAI and Musk’s xAI, as both firms vie to lead in the field of AI.
