Perplexity has just launched Perplexity Patents, a brand new AI tool designed to make patent research faster and easier for all.
Instead of relying on strict keyword searches, users will be able to ask basic questions in natural language and explore results via a conversational interface.
The system can surface relevant prior art, display original patent documents, and guide the user with suggested follow-up topics.
It can also uncover inventions that don’t contain the exact matching terms, helping researchers gain a broader view of related ideas and technologies.
Behind the scenes, the tool is powered by an advanced research agent that decomposes complex queries into smaller search tasks.
It draws from a wide patent database and can expand to include additional sources, such as academic papers, software repositories, and other publicly available documents, as needed.
Perplexity Patents launches today in beta, free for all users, with higher usage limits for Pro and Max subscribers.
Anyone can get started simply by typing in a simple patent-related question and seeing results all in one place.
