Perplexity has released a redesigned version of its Comet Assistant, granting users a more powerful agentic AI that can tackle longer, more complex tasks across multiple browser tabs.
That update enables the new assistant to view and interact with web environments in a significantly more intelligent manner, reducing friction for websites while facilitating easier workflow completion, including tasks such as data entry, research, travel booking, and job hunting.
According to internal tests, the new Comet Assistant does 23% better on multi-step tasks without giving up early.
It introduces improved permission controls, allowing users to select how much direct browser interaction the assistant is able to carry out.
Comet can now perform multi-tab multitasking, gather context, and complete end-to-end tasks such as looking for flights, organizing job searches, or generating spreadsheets.
According to Perplexity, the objective of this upgrade is to restore the usefulness of the internet by providing users with a private, personal, and powerful AI that works entirely on their behalf.
