Salesforce Tackles AI Agent Sprawl With MuleSoft Upgrades

Salesforce is expanding MuleSoft Agent Fabric to address a growing problem inside large enterprises: AI agent sprawl.

As organizations rapidly deploy agents across teams and clouds, many lack clear visibility into what agents exist, how they behave, and what systems they can access.

The latest update introduces Agent Scanners, a new capability that automatically discovers and catalogs AI agents running across ecosystems such as Salesforce Agentforce, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud Vertex AI.

Instead of relying on manual audits or spreadsheets, enterprises get continuous, real-time discovery of agents as they appear or change.

Beyond detection, Agent Scanners extract deep metadata about each agent, including its capabilities, the models powering it, and the data it’s authorized to access.

This information is normalized using Google’s Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol and synced into the MuleSoft Agent Registry, creating a centralized system of record for agents, MCP servers, and AI tools, regardless of vendor.

MuleSoft Agent Fabric also supports flexible registration for homegrown agents and Model Context Protocol servers, ensuring internal tools don’t become hidden “shadow AI.”

With MuleSoft Agent Visualizer, teams can filter and search their entire AI footprint, compare agents across platforms, and identify redundant tools or opportunities for consolidation.

Why This Matters Today

IDC projects that more than 1 billion AI agents will be deployed globally by 2029, making governance and visibility a core enterprise challenge.

Without automation, agent sprawl increases security risk, operational blind spots, and wasted AI spend.

By positioning MuleSoft Agent Fabric as a unified control plane, Salesforce is aiming to make multicloud, multi-agent environments manageable at scale, enabling faster innovation without sacrificing oversight.

Our Key Takeaways:

  • Salesforce added automated agent discovery to MuleSoft Agent Fabric to combat AI sprawl.

  • Agent Scanners provide real-time visibility across platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI.

  • A centralized registry helps enterprises govern, optimize, and scale agentic systems safely.
