TikTok’s New US App Set for September Release

TikTok is launching a new US-only app on September 5, 2025, and US users will need to update to the new version by March 2026 to keep their account.

This is part of a plan to sell TikTok’s US operations to investors like Oracle by September 17, 2025, to meet US security rules and avoid a ban.

The deal needs approval from the US and Chinese governments, which might be tricky. TikTok is helping users switch to the new app while keeping its main features.

This follows a law pushing TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell or shut down in the US.
