Uber Goes Big With A Massive Investment Into Lucid and Nuro

Uber has committed to invest $300 million into Lucid Motors as part of a strategic partnership to roll out a next-generation autonomous robotaxi fleet powered by Nuro’s self-driving technology.
According to an official SEC filing, Uber and Lucid entered into a six-year agreement in which Lucid will supply up to 20,000 vehicles, specifically its upcoming Gravity SUV, integrated with Nuro’s Level 4 autonomy software.
These vehicles will be operated on Uber’s platform in select U.S. markets, with initial deployments expected as early as 2026.
This deal marks Uber’s return to the autonomous space, without building its own tech.
Instead, it’s aligning with Lucid’s EV manufacturing and Nuro’s AI systems to deliver driverless rides at scale
