NEO, a home robot of humanoid form from robotics company 1X, has now hit the market and will introduce automated assistance to living spaces.
The robot launched on October 28, 2025, and will be responsible for laundry folding, shelf stacking, picking up items, opening doors, and reminding using natural voice response.
With onboard language processing, vision, and memory, NEO can recognize objects, learn users’ habits, and download new features through software upgrades and remote expert consultations.
Under its streamlined, minimalist exterior is a powerful hardware platform with tendon-actuated motion for fluid movement, human-hand-level dexterity, and the ability to move heavy loads silently.
It is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G-enabled, weighing a mere 66 pounds, and has speakers built into its body.
The early access version will cost $20,000 (shipping available in 2026 in the US), and a subscription model to follow that will run $499 monthly. You can pre-order NEO today by placing a $200 deposit.
Social media platforms quickly buzzed with reaction as users began creating memes out of advertising images.
Images of the robot looming over beds, holding pillows, or standing far too comfortably in kitchens cracked jokes about subscription alerts, declined payments, and awkward late-night sessions.
While a handful of individuals are excited about a future full of helper robots, others find themselves uncomfortably entertained by the prospect of opening doors to something humanoid in their bedrooms, making NEO the latest case of technology launching on the wave of internet comedy.
