How To Do Text Voiceovers

Here is a step-by-step tutorial for the text-to-speech feature.

1. Go to elevenlabs.io and click Try For Free in the top right corner. This will prompt you to create a free account. If you already have an account, click Log In and log in with your credentials.
   
   
   
   
2. Once logged in, you will end up on the homepage. Find the Text To Speech button on the left-hand side. It is located under the ElevenLabs logo, under the Playground section. You can also click the Instant Speech button in the middle of the screen.
   
   
   
   
3. Your page should look something like this. Look around and familiarize yourself with all of the customization options around you. Your options are located on the right-hand side under Settings.
   
   
   
   Explore the voice library or search for a voice with your own criteria. Select the desired voice and model and adjust the speed, stability, similarity, and style exaggeration to best suit your needs.
   
   
   
   Tip: to hear an example of what a voice sounds like, hover over the voice name and click play on its profile picture.
   
   
   
   
4. Once you’ve selected the necessary options, you can add text into the big empty space in the middle of your screen. You can either type it or copy and paste it from somewhere else.
   
   
   
   You’ll notice that the number of characters is limited to 5000.
   
   
   
   Over time, our team has noticed that pasting text that contains less than 1300 characters produces better results. Later, you can combine the downloaded audio snippets in software like CapCut.
   
   
5. Click Generate Speech and watch the magic happen.
   
   If you don’t like the result, you can click Regenerate Speech or refresh the page and click Generate Speech again.
   
   Tip: sometimes, the AI has difficulty pronouncing special words or abbreviations, so you might have to get creative with your spelling. For us, it has a hard time with the word “Vavoza” and the abbreviation “ROAS.”
   
   So, instead of keeping the spelling original and constantly refreshing the page, we changed the spelling to exactly what it should sound like: “Veyvoza” and “rowaz.”
   
   
6. Once you are happy with the way your text sounds, click the download button in the bottom right corner of your screen. (It is the middle button in the screenshot.) Once downloaded, you can now rename it and use it wherever you like.
   
   
   
   Tip: You might end up with multiple short snippets once you’re done with the full text, so rename them into something that makes sense to you so you don’t lose track of their order. (I usually abbreviate them into what the text is about and name them in numerical order.)
   
   
7. Once you have audio parts for your entire text, open CapCut, drag and drop your parts into the editor in the correct order, and listen to the full audio. You can adjust pause times between paragraphs and set the desired volume.
   
   
8. Once you’ve performed your final edits, you can export your file, rename it, and upload it wherever your heart desires.
