YouTube outlined its 2026 priorities in a letter published by CEO Neal Mohan, signaling deeper investments in creators, artificial intelligence, family safety, and living-room viewing.
The company framed the year ahead as a shift where creators increasingly operate as full-scale studios and businesses.
YouTube said creators are driving major cultural moments across sports, music, and entertainment, with professionally produced shows now rivaling traditional television.
The platform reported that Shorts average roughly 200 billion daily views, and said new formats, including image-based posts, will be integrated directly into the Shorts feed in 2026.
On the TV side, YouTube said it has led U.S. streaming watch time for nearly three years, citing data from Nielsen.
The company plans to launch customizable multiview features and more than 10 specialized YouTube TV plans spanning sports, news, and entertainment.
YouTube also detailed updates for kids and teens, including simplified account setup, expanded parental controls, and new tools that allow parents to limit or fully disable Shorts scrolling.
The company said these changes build on its existing supervised experiences and YouTube Kids offering.
